California sunshine!

California, 17-24 Aug 2011

Sito went to both LA and San Francisco...more than 20 years ago! I've never been to LA before this but check out my last trip to San Francisco.

Click here for my itinerary.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
This has to be the most last-minute trip we've had so far. Settled tickets and hotels only five days before the journey!
Wednesday, 17 August - plenty of wonderings...
Welcome to Tinseltown, Mr and Mrs Sito! :)
Kentucky Derby!
Kentucky Derby, 6-7 May 2011
Yup, that was a guy with a horse costume with a girl in front...! It was supposed to be horse-racing but in the infield, there was more partying than anything else!
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~

Four happy busloads of Kellogg students and some JVs set off on Friday for Kentucky Derby!

One bus had sleepers. Another had a "merlion" after hours of partying on the bus. Ours was quite moderate - a mix of sleepers and party people, but thankfully no merlion.

Cherry blossoms instead of sakura

Washington DC, 8-10 Apr 2011

It was a very short trip - we arrived on Friday evening and left on Sunday afternoon.

Click here for my itinerary.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
We have both been to Japan during sakura season but separately. This time, we walked together along cherry blossom trees in DC :)
miso: Um, what's the difference? Sakura and cherry blossoms?
mf: Language :p
Dairy land
Madison, 23-26 Mar 2011
Went out of town for the first time since we got settled in after KWEST.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~

Sito came home last Saturday! :) And so did I - went to Madison to visit SZ on days 10-13 of home alone.

Hmmm, I just had a thought, that the home was really alone while we were both gone...

Anyway, so I set off for Madison on Wednesday afternoon. Took my trusty bus to O'Hare to catch a coach to Madison, but I almost took the wrong coach! I'm so rusty now that I haven't been on the road for years, sighs..

Surfing the rich coast!

Costa Rica, 21-28 Aug 2010

This was our most adventurous trip together! But nop, we didn't surf, not *that* adventurous :p

Psst: Check out the videos of us doing the tarzan swing!

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
We learnt on the first day in Evanston that KWEST reads “quest”, and not “k-west”. It stands for Kellogg Worldwide Experiences and Service Trips.
Having registered a few days after registration started, we did not get any of our top 10 choices (out of some 40 options); the trips were that popular! We were asked to choose from Australia, Costa Rica and Turkey. For various reasons, we chose Costa Rica and it turned out to be great fun!
Universal Studios Singapore!
Universal Studios Singapore, 12 Aug 2010
A theme park! In English finally, yeah!
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~

Going to USS was the only fun thing we did between work and Evanston.. After I started clearing leave, I was still archiving work stuff almost every weekday morning. Sito fell ill in his last week at work and I caught it from him after that – so for almost two weeks, we had bland food and stayed in lots.. And after some massive of packing, USS was especially wonderful :)

Sunflowers, lavender and more!

Japan, 3-11 Aug 2009

This trip marked the end of my yearly pilgrimage to Japan since 2005. Unless you count our flights to and from Singapore last year - we transited at Narita :p

And coincidentally, flowers featured a great deal in both my first and last (to date) trip to Japan...

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
We started and ended our holiday at McD in T2 :p
In fact, the running theme for our trip was food :)
4 Aug 2009 - oh, crab!
We arrived at Hokkaido on the night of 3 Aug 2009, so the fun started only the next day..
紅葉の旅
Japan, 24-29 Oct 2008
Visited Na in Gifu and roamed the nearby area, just a little.. This has to be my shortest and most uneventful trip to Japan so far, unless you count the naked men by the river....! (There's a picture of said naked men but it was taken really faaaar away..)
Click here for my itinerary.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~

Well, not really, late October was still too early for 紅葉.. But I did see a few red leaves! :p

English breakfast, anyone?

UK, 21 May-1 Jun 2008

Sito and I visited each other's university :) This trip was planned according to the ballroom dancing competition at Blackpool.

Click here for my itinerary.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
It was a really, really good holiday. Our journey began in Oxford and then Nottingham. We went to practically every place that we used to go to last time, including mundane places like supermarkets!
After that, we became tourists as we negotiated places less familiar to us - Edinburgh, the Scottish highlands, Blackpool - before going back to London..
For a dance and a meal
KL, 8-11 Mar 2008
Went for a ballroom dancing competition and roamed the city a little..
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~

Two Saturdays ago, we took off to KL on Aeroline - quite a comfortable ride. They had movies - watched Transformers and a bit of Tokyo Drift - and served food and hot drinks. Took us just under five hours to get to KL via Tuas. But we almost lost our bags cos we didn't realise we were supposed to take them with us at the customs!!

(Almost) Christmas at the beach

Batam, 21-24 Dec 2007

Sito decided to take a trip to Egypt. On his own. But he came back in time for our beach holiday in Batam, wearing a tunic he bought in Egypt!

It was a relaxing beach holiday so there wasn't more than what I said before, here. Oh, but I need to repeat one point - for once, a massage at a beach resort was really good!
